How does Teach the Nation work with Undergraduate

Benefits of becoming a TTN Undergraduate

The journey of a TTN Undergraduate

Step 1: Apply

Graduated or those in the process of graduating with either a BEd or PGCE Degree, between the ages of 22 – 35 years can apply through our website to become a part of the next Cohort of new TTN Fellows.

Step 2: Screening Process

All applicants will go through a screening process to ensure that the individuals who become our next TTN cohort meet the requirements needed to be a part of the fellowship

Step 3: Interview and Assessment Center

Successfully screened candidates will be taken through an Assessment Centre where they will be asked to perform a Model Class of their Teaching Abilities and a Secret Role Play to assess their resilience and ability to think on their feet.

Step 4: Selection into the Program

Successful candidates will then be offered the opportunity to be accepted into the fellowship via receiving their Fellowship Acceptance Letter.

Step 5: Participate in Job Readiness Workshops

During the placement period, Fellows will have the opportunity to attend Job Readiness Workshops hosted by TTN, where they will learn skills such as CV Development, Interview Skills, Self-evaluation, and more.

Step 6: Assistance in Permanent Placement at a School

Newly onboarded fellows will be supported in their placement in a full-time teaching post within the Western Cape. TTN offers to support this process, but Fellows will be expected to seek placement themselves too.

Step 7: Permanent Placement at a School

After an application for placement has been successful, the Fellow will start their Professional Career at their chosen school as a Fulltime Teacher.

Step 8: Application to Study PGCE through TTN Partner

Successful Fellows will be given the opportunity to apply to study their PGCE through Teach The Nation’s Tertiary Partner, fully sponsored by TTN.

Step 9: Completion of PGCE

Candidates will then have the opportunity to complete their PGCE Degree whilst working as an Fulltime Educator at a School.

Step 10: Attendance of Summer Institute

At the start of the year, all fellows are expected to attend our Annual Summer Institute, where they will be officially inducted into the Fellowship and be able to network with their fellow members.

Step 11: 2-Year Leadership Development Program

During the placement period, Fellows will have the opportunity to attend Job Readiness Workshops hosted by TTN, where they will learn skills such as CV Development, Interview Skills, Self-evaluation, and more.

Step 12: Alumni Pathway

After the successful completion of the two-year fellowship this prepares you for graduation into the Teach the Nation alumni movement, where pathways open you up to education leadership, social innovation, and social entrepreneurship.
