How does Teach the Nation work with Postgraduate

Benefits of becoming a TTN Postgraduate

The journey of a Postgraduate

Step 1: Apply

Graduated or those in the process of graduating with either a BEd or PGCE Degree, between the ages of 22 – 35 years can apply through our website to become a part of the next Cohort of new TTN Fellows.

Step 2: Screening Process

All applicants will go through a screening process to ensure that the individuals who become our next TTN cohort meet the requirements needed to be a part of the fellowship

Step 3: Interview and Assessment Center

Successfully screened candidates will be taken through an Assessment Centre where they will be asked to perform a Model Class of their Teaching Abilities and a Secret Role Play to assess their resilience and ability to think on their feet.

Step 4: Selection into the Program

Successful candidates will then be offered the opportunity to be accepted into the fellowship via receiving their Fellowship Acceptance Letter.

Step 5: Assistance in Permanent Placement at a School

Newly onboarded fellows will be supported in their placement in a full-time teaching post within the Western Cape. TTN offers to support this process, but Fellows will be expected to seek placement themselves too.

Step 6: Participate in Job Readiness Workshops

During the placement period, Fellows will have the opportunity to attend Job Readiness Workshops hosted by TTN, where they will learn skills such as CV Development, Interview Skills, Self-evaluation, and more.

Step 7: Permanent Placement at a School

After an application for placement has been successful, the Fellow will start their Professional Career at their chosen school as a Fulltime Teacher.

Step 8: Attendance of Summer Institute

At the start of the year, all fellows are expected to attend our Annual Summer Institute, where they will be officially inducted into the Fellowship and be able to network with their fellow members.

Step 9: 2-Year Leadership Development Program

Fellows will spend the next 2 years participating in the Leadership Development Scholarship, receiving individual Mentorship centered around Instructional and Transformational Coaching.

Step 10: Alumni Pathway

After the successful completion of the two-year fellowship this prepares you for graduation into the Teach the Nation alumni movement, where pathways open you up to education leadership, social innovation, and social entrepreneurship.
